Farmers’ group went on a ‘maun vrat’ (vow of silence) throughout their fifth spherical of talks with the federal government and sought a reply in ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on their key demand of repealing the three new farm legal guidelines, union leaders stated.
As their assembly with three Union Ministers, together with Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, continued for almost 4 hours, farmer leaders informed the federal government to answer in “black and white” that whether or not it would repeal the legal guidelines or not.
“Farmer union leaders are sitting on a ‘maun vrat’,” Punjab Kisan Union chief Ruldhu Singh stated.
“All members of delegation have decided to keep silent,” stated Kavitha Kuruganti, who’s representing the Mahila Kisan Adhikaar Manch. “The government side is trying to draw us out. Utter silence from our side.”
She added, “Farm leaders are trying to force the government to say in black and white that it will not repeal. Government is not responding to this pinpointed question.”
Gurlabh Singh Mahal, authorized advisor to Punjab Kisan Union, additionally stated the farmer leaders needed the federal government to reply in ‘Yes or No’
