Turban case: DGP meets relations; Governor calls for speedy launch of Balwinder Singh

The relations of Balwinder Singh, who has been arrested by West Bengal police for carrying a firearm at a rally organised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), met senior police officers late on Friday night.

After the assembly, relations together with Mr. Singh’s spouse, Karamjit Kaur, stated they’ve been assured that instances in opposition to her husband could be withdrawn. Mr. Singh is within the custody of Howrah police and the event signifies that the standoff between the federal government and the household could ease out.

Earlier, the household had threatened to take a seat on starvation strike exterior the State Secretariat. Mr. Singh was arrested on October 8, throughout the BJP march to the State Secretariat. Meanwhile, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar requested the State authorities to “immediately release” Balwinder Singh and withdraw instances in opposition to him.
