WASHINGTON — In a planning steerage for the U.S. Space Force, Chief of Space Operations John “Jay” Raymond stated the nonetheless nascent service should prioritize being lean, agile and keen to take dangers.
“This planning guidance is going to be absolutely critical to us as we develop that force design going forward,” Raymond stated throughout a Nov. 9 media roundtable.

The planning steerage doesn’t divert from the messages Raymond has been sending in regards to the Space Force’s group because the institution of the service. He needs it to keep away from paperwork, settle for average ranges of danger and transfer quick.
“The imperative to flatten bureaucracy is about more than efficient management — it enables the decision-making speed and agile implementation that generate advantage in competition or conflict,” based on the planning steerage.

Raymond stated the service was given a clean slate to prepare itself, and efforts to this point will proceed into 2021. However, the service’s focus will shift in its second 12 months.
“I think our weight of effort shifts from just inventing to integrating that force broadly across the department, across the Joint Staff, across all of our service partners, intelligence community, allies and partners … and then with commercial industry,” he defined.
